BBDO DETROIT CUTS 100 JOBS

'Difficult Economic Conditions' Cited

By Published on .

DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- Omnicom Group's BBDO Detroit, in Troy, Mich., told its staff today it is eliminating about 100 jobs as part of a cost-cutting move.

A BBDO spokesman said the cutbacks translate to roughly 5% of the office's staff of nearly 2,000 people working on the creative and media accounts for DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler Group.

All departments and levels are impacted, although the spokesman declined to provide the names of the most senior people affected. "It's being done in response to some difficult economic conditions within the automotive category," he said.

Chrysler has had an on-going cost-cutting plan with its suppliers, especially as it attempts to return to profitability this year.
