BBDO's German media operations to work under OMD banner

DUESSELDORF-- BBDO Group Germany, headquartered here, is about to strengthen and streamline its media buying and planning activities. As of Jan. 1, 2001, Klaus-Peter Schulz, 41, will be CEO of BBDO's media agencies, replacing Eduard van Eyck, who will be named to an international assignment within BBDO's media business. Mr. Schulz was previously media director of private TV station SAT.1, and prior to that was manager of media and advertising services at Kraft Jacobs Suchard.

It is planned that BBDO's media agencies in Germany -- BBDO Media Team, Media Direction and the GFMO media unit -- shall in future cooperate more closely under the umbrella of the Optimum Media Direction Worldwide brand, Omnicom Group's international media specialist.

The BBDO Group in Germany has media operations in 11 offices located in four cities. The offices will start to cooperate in research, new business, IT, e-business and finance. It has not yet been decided whether some of the 11 offices will be closed.
