BBDO settles with FTC

The Federal Trade Commission said BBDO Worldwide, New York, has agreed to settle charges of deceptive practices related to its ads for Haagen-Dazs frozen yogurt products. FTC said certain ad claims concerning fat content and calories were false. The commission settled similar charges against Haagen-Dazs Co. last June.

Under the proposed settlement announced Thursday, BBDO would be prohibited from misrepresenting the amount of fat, calories or cholesterol in any frozen yogurt, frozen sorbet or ice cream product.
