Bell Atlantic close to launching Dover Township VDT system

Published on .

Bell Atlantic is in final testing of its long-planned interactive TV system in Dover Township, N.J. About 200 test participants have been watching a sampling of video programming transmitted over Bell Atlantic's video dialtone network since mid-December. In this final phase, test participants will be able to view additional channels, and they'll perform some basic interactive functions, such as using remote controls for on-screen ordering of movies and premium channels. Bell Atlantic hopes to open the service to various video programmers to start selling their own entertainment programming.
