BERLITZ ACQUIRES LEAPNET ASSETS

Published on .

(March 30, 2001) -- The Berlitz GlobalNET unit of Berlitz International said it would acquire "certain operating assets" of Planet Leap Inc., itself a subsidiary of Leapnet. Under the terms of the deal, Berlitz will now own the globalization services of Planet Leap. Berlitz GlobalNET has built localization technologies such as the BerlitzIT.com translation portal. Chicago-based Leapnet, like many of its competitors, has seen its business slow down due to lessening demand for Internet services. -- Catharine P. Taylor
