(May 15, 2001) -- Media conglomerate Bertelsmann has folded its book-selling site, BOL.com, into its clubs business. Both are operated by the company's DirectGroup. Bertelsmann said the merger of its direct-to-customer businesses and their online and offline distribution paths is an adjustment based on customer behavior, as consumers use multiple channels for making purchases. BOL.com will be accessible through its media communities' sites. -- Adrienne Mand
