Bidders for Chilton titles reach second-round negotiations

Bids higher than $350 million for Chilton Publishing titles will make it to stage two of a bidding process handled by Merrill Lynch & Co., according to investment executives, who believe the titles will ultimately fetch more than $400 million. A Walt Disney Co. spokesman said the process would occur "in the near future." Bidders are believed to include U.K.-based EMAP, Advanstar Holdings, Miller Freeman and Cahners Publishing.
