BK fills key marketing post

Burger King Corp. named Jim Watkins, 40, senior VP-North America marketing, effective June 3. The company has been searching for someone to fill the post since Paul Clayton moved up to president of Burger King North America from senior VP-worldwide marketing early this year. Mr. Watkins joins BK from the VP-general manager post at Hill's Pet Nutrition, Topeka, Kan., a unit of Colgate-Palmolive Co. Previously, he held several marketing positions with Dr Pepper/Seven-Up Cos., Dallas, including VP-marketing for Seven-Up USA. Mr. Watkins will lead marketing programs for the chain's restaurants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Burger King's country managers overseas are responsible for marketing in their territories.
