Michael Bloomberg said parties he has given at the Republican convention two weeks ago on behalf of Bloomberg News and at the Democratic convention last night aren't intended to indicate his interest in running for mayor of New York, despite speculation to the contrary. Instead, the Bloomberg CEO sees the parties "as a chance to build the brand name" and to improve the relationships his reporters have with sources. At the same time, Mr. Bloomberg said he's looking increasingly at getting into public service, whether in the New York City mayor's race or some other office. "The more people try to convince me that I wouldn't want to do it, the more I am convinced it would be fun to do," he said. Mr. Bloomberg said he believes the media have focused so much attention on his running because they want a "fresh face."
