(April 3, 2001) -- Kmart on Monday relaunched its Blue Light Special promotion as a means of drumming up excitement at both its stores and and online site, bluelight.com. Several times during the day, the words "Attention Kmart shoppers" can be heard on the Web site, and blue light logo flashes both on the home page and online service channels. In the store, the specials will take place under a Blue Light canopy. Different brand name products, at what Kmart officials called "incomparably" low prices, will be featured on- and offline. The offerings contrast to previous Blue Light Special items, often clearance merchandise. Monday's online Blue Light Specials, for example, featured a Nikon digital camera for $639.95, $60 less than the Kmart regular price. -- Alice Z. Cuneo
