BMW to narrow Mini race

Published on .

BMW of North America, Woodcliff Lake, N.J., said it will announce Dec. 6 or 7 the semifinalists in the review for its new Mini car account. The list will be pared from the 15 agencies that were sent questionnaires. BMW is expected to spend $40 million to launch the car in the U.S. in early 2002. The Mini, getting its first redo since 1959, goes on sale first in the U.K. next March with ads from Jung von Matt, a hot German creative shop (Ad Age, Oct. 9).
