BMW shakeup hits BBDO, Cordiant

BMW, Munich, shaking up its European agencies, named a small German shop, Hamburg's Jung von Matt, its lead agency effective Jan. 1. Jung von Matt will take over BMW's global image account from BBDO Europe, which only this month had been awarded that assignment. Jung von Matt also adds BMW's $80 million account in Germany, which had been at Cordiant Communications Group's Scholz & Friends (sister shop to Bates Worldwide), plus an $80 million assignment for brochures, catalogs and direct mail. Jung von Matt resigned its Volkswagen Audi account.
