Tom Bodett, after 12 years as Motel 6 ad spokesman, finally appears bodily in a TV campaign breaking May 4. The spots feature Mr. Bodett's voice -- familiar from past radio and TV commercials -- but not much else that will make him stand out in a crowd. One ad only uses a baby photo of him, and the others are keyed to certain locales (like Florida), with Mr. Bodett's face obscured by an apropos prop. The spots emphasize renovations at the hotels.
