Borders.com nixes registration as part of revamp

Online bookseller Borders.com was temporarily closed the evening of Feb. 11 through Feb. 13 so it could upgrade and remodel its site. Part of the so-called upgrade included the elimination of mandatory registration: Now it's optional for consumers who want to make online purchases. The upgrade also included a redesigned customer service area and a new overall design.
