Borders steps down as Webvan chairman

George T. Shaheen, president-CEO of online grocery retailer Webvan Group, adds the title of chairman, succeeding Louis H. Borders, the company's founder. Borders will continue as a director of the company. Webvan's board also includes venture capitalist Jim Barksdale, partner, Barksdale Group; David M. Beirne, general partner, Benchmark Capital; Christos M. Cotsakos, chairman-CEO, E-Trade Group; Tim Koogle, chairman-CEO, Yahoo!; Michael Moritz, general partner, Sequoia Capital; and Mary Alice Taylor, former chairman and CEO of HomeGrocer.com. Webvan acquired HomeGrocer three weeks ago, and is postponing expansion into new markets until HomeGrocer is fully integrated.
