Bozell's David Bell to succeed Mason as CEO of True North

Published on .

True North Communications has chosen David Bell, current CEO of Bozell Worldwide, as its new chairman and CEO. Mr. Bell will take over from Bruce Mason, the current CEO, when he retires. Leo-Arthur Kelmenson, chairman of Bozell, will add the CEO title to his job, succeeding Mr. Bell. Both Mr. Kelmenson, and Brendan Ryan, chairman and CEO of FCB Worldwide, the other global ad agency owned by True North, declined to be considered for the job. Both men said they preferred to remain agency heads, interacting directly with clients. Charles Peebler, Jr., continues as chairman and CEO of the True North Diversified Companies. Also in the transition, Don Seeley, currently CFO of True North, will take on the additional role of vice chairman.
