Brazil expected to ban tobacco advertising

Published on .

Brazil's House of Deputies the week of Aug. 7 voted to ban all tobacco advertising and sponsorships, except for point of purchase. The ban is expected to be approved by the Senate and signed into law by President Federico Henrique Cardoso within the next three months. If approved, a one-year grace period is likely before the new law would be enforced.
