Brazilian health dot-com names agency

SAO PAULO--Planeta Vida, a Web site specializing in health and quality-of-life issues, has awarded its advertising account to Fischer America, Rio de Janeiro. The site launched last year and says it racks up 1.5 million page views every month and 250,000 unique visitors without any marketing. The dot-com now intends to spend $3 million on advertising in the next 30 days in a bid to triple its traffic. By yearend, Planeta Vida plans to spend $8 million on advertising.

The Web site will soon start investing in e-commerce, selling pharmaceutical, beauty and fitness-related products online. Backers intend to expand in Latin America soon, starting with Mexico and Argentina.
