Published on .

SAO PAULO--Brazilian virtual department store Lojas Americanas is fulfilling deliveries to Brazilians living abroad through a partnership with Federal Express.

"It's a very important step into internationalizing. We intend to provide delivery to any Brazilian around the world," says Pedro Donda, president of Americanas.com. Currently, at least 3% of the Web sites' 50,000 daily hits come from Brazilians outside Brazil.

Guilherme Gatti, marketing director at FedEx Express for South America, adds: "Brazilian executives are realizing how important it is to have their products carried around fast and safely."

The company is starting the service with delivery of up to 4,000 CD titles. Other categories will include toys, bedroom and bathroom products, household products and lingerie. Deliveries will take an average delivery time of two business days.
