While the tune and the visuals are reminiscent of the happy-go-lucky Brady family, the jingle says parents who smoke may be jeopardizing their children's health. The latest 60-second spot, by Crispin Porter Bogusky, Miami, for the State of Florida Anti-Tobacco Pilot Program, budgeted at $50 million over two years, broke July 6 on local TV stations. Meanwhile, in Massachusetts, the Department of Public Health is fighting the tobacco industry directly with three :30s from Arnold Communications, Boston. TV and print quote from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. memos and charge the marketer knowingly targeted teens. The goal of this $12 million campaign, running on Boston TV stations, is to convince adults "It's time we made smoking history."
