The Boston Globe said it will no longer run ads promoting tobacco products or smoking. The paper, however, will continue to consider ads from tobacco companies that sponsor an event or advocate a public policy position. Officials at the The New York Times Co.-owned Globe said the decision was entirely a local one.

Estee Lauder Cos., New York, signed an agreement to license the trademark of designer Kate Spade for a line of fragrances, cosmetics and other beauty-related accessories.
