Sega of America, Redwood City, Calif., this week releases its latest videogame, Sonic & Knuckles, backed by a network and spot TV campaign plus point-of-purchase support coordinated in-house by Sega, with help from Manning, Selvage & Lee, Los Angeles. A promotional campaign leading up to the launch wrapped up last week, allowing contestants to enter a sweepstakes at Hard Rock Cafe restaurants in 16 cities and also through a toll-free number, backed by radio advertising. One winner was awarded $25,000 cash and the overall title of "Knucklehead."
U.S. Tobacco Sales & Marketing , Greenwich, Conn., will sponsor next year's Memorial Day weekend "Rock the Rockies" outdoor concert in Denver, honoring the 60th anniversary of the company's Skoal smokeless tobacco. An integrated marketing campaign, developed in-house, supports the event and includes a national sweepstakes, print advertising and extensive POP support. The promotion includes a mail-in offer for two free can-samples of Skoal's Long Cut tobacco in cherry and spearmint flavors.
