General Motors Corp.'s GM Card is running a co-promotion July 1 to Aug. 15 with more than 100 theaters, restaurants and retailers in country music show center Branson, Mo. GM set up six vehicle displays in the town, at which a cardholder or anyone who applies for a GM credit card gets a "GM Country Club" pass for 10% discounts on purchases with participating companies, and also doubles the usual 5% credit that accrues toward purchase of a GM vehicle. McCann-Erickson Worldwide and Atkinson Group, both St. Louis, handle.

Denny's Restaurants is sliding into baseball season with hologram trading cards, free with purchase of a Classic Hits entree and a beverage. The cards from Upper Deck Co. feature one of 28 major leaguers. Print ads from D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, Greenville, S.C., support.

American Greetings last week signed Gladys Knight as spokeswoman for a nationwide "Happy Birthday Song Contest." The contest starts Sept. 1 and runs through November at 31,000 retail outlets carrying American Greetings cards. Finalists will be flown to New York in January, where one grand prize winner will get $10,000, with Ms. Knight on hand. D.L. Blair, Garden City, N.Y., coordinates the promotion.
