British Airways delays agency decision

British Airways delayed a decision on its $135 million account review until early this week amid intense speculation that the contest is between Maurice Saatchi's New Saatchi Agency and Bartle Bogle Hegarty. Incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising is widely believed to be out of the running and the other contender, J. Walter Thompson Co., is regarded as a safe but unlikely choice. Although Bartle Bogle has denied needing an international alliance for anything other than media buying, there is strong speculation that the London agency would have to team up with someone (Lintas Worldwide has been mentioned) for other network services.

bullish on rumors of sale by Tisch
CBS' stock rallied Friday following a report that CBS Chairman-CEO Laurence Tisch is negotiating to sell his controlling stake in the company to Westinghouse Electric Corp. CBS shares jumped 4%, to close at $63.75 a share on Friday. CBS declined to comment, but network insiders said they doubted Westinghouse had the cash.
