LONDON -- British Digital Broadcasting plc, the pay-TV company owned jointly by Carlton Communi- cations and Granada Group that plans to launch in the U.K., has appointed Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, London, to handle its advertising and mar- keting program.

The budget is not disclosed, but Nigel Walmsley, director of BDB, claims its launch of digital terrestrial television will mark "the start of one of the biggest advertising and marketing campaigns in British television." The campaign will cover both national and local media.
