British Telecom sells Web ads

Published on .

Yellow Pages, the directory of U.K. businesses owned by British Telecommunications plc, is to start selling ads on its Web site. The YELL site, which lists 1.6 million U.K. businesses, gets more than one million page views per month, a performance the company claims makes it one of the U.K.'s top Web sites.

Starting in April, U.K. advertisers will be able to buy basic ads or build a complete Web site, including a map of a business' exact location. Those with existing Web sites can link from the directory.
