Budget Rent a Car Corp. kicks off a four-month sweepstakes promotion this month offering a "$1 million Car DriveAway." The skinny: rent a car from Budget from now until Jan. 31 and be entered into a drawing for one of 35 new models in the Budget WorldClass fleet. Budget will tout the promotion with TV spots that will run on Fox's National Football League broadcasts, ABC's coverage of the Major League Baseball playoffs, and assorted ESPN and CBS programming. Print ads will run in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and U.S. News & World Report. Tracy-Locke, Dallas, handles.

MasterCard International's second annual American Collegiate Talent Search starts this month, inviting students to compete at one of about 100 events held at college campuses nationwide where MasterCard will also offer credit card applications to students. Students can also videotape their performances for entry at MasterCard-sponsored College Fests held off-campus throughout the fall. One grand prize of $15,000 will be awarded to the winning student at a final competition Feb. 25 in Nashville, Tenn., with a $10,000 scholarship going to the winner's school. MasterCard and the National Association for Campus Activities, Columbia, S.C., coordinated.

Hormel Foods Corp. recently announced the renewal of its Chi-Chi's salsa Super Bowl radio promotion, which will run in markets across the U.S. beginning Jan. 1 through Super Bowl Sunday, Jan. 28. The promotion offers various prizes for winners of football trivia contests, with one grand prize of a catered Super Bowl party by Chi-Chi's, complete with a 31-inch TV.
