Published on .

Buena Vista Internet Group, which oversees Walt Disney Co.'s Web sites, agreed to purchase 60% of Soccernet, a soccer site, from Associated New Media, the new media publishing division of Daily Mail & General Trust. Buena Vista, which now oversees all aspects of Soccernet's production, design, editorial, sales and marketing operations, will make Soccernet the cornerstone of ESPN.com's international expansion efforts and use the site to enhance ESPN.com's existing soccer coverage. The agreement marks ESPN.com's first foray into the international Internet arena. ESPN.com will debut Soccernet and launch a redesigned ESPN.com site Sept. 1.
