Interactive TV provider Zing Systems, Englewood, Colo., said it expects to announce updated launch plans and branding/advertising strategies this month. After potential investor ITT Corp. backed out late last month, questions arose about the future of Zing, which has experienced numerous delays in the past few years. Ad Council and Partnership for a Drug Free America have agreed to test advertising on the Zing system; Tele-Communications Inc., Comcast Corp. and Continental Cablevision are among the financial backers.

CompuServe's Internet Division, Seattle, will launch a low-cost Internet service code-named Spryte by yearend. The service allows users to surf the 'net, establish e-mail addresses and create home pages for $4.95 per month for three hours. Additional hours are $1.95 each. Separately, CompuServe, Columbus, Ohio, added Marriott and Northwest Airlines as advertisers in the online service's travel area.

Bellevue, Wash.-based Medio Multimedia will liquidate its business after a deal to sell the company fell through. Software marketer ConnectSoft was unable to raise $2 million in cash to buy Medio, which gained notoriety two years ago with the release of Medio Magazine, the first CD-ROM magazine.

The Travel Channel Online Network (http://www.travelchannel.com) makes its debut Oct. 11 with content from the cable outlet as well as travel resources from across the Web.....Lang Communications opens Women's Web on Oct. 11 (http://www.womweb.com.) as a source for women seeking work-related information as well as information on home and lifestyle. .....Toyota Motor Sales USA, Torrance, Calif., switches on its @Toyota home page at http://www.toyota.com on Oct. 17.
