Ziff-Davis' ZDNet today opens ZDNet Inter@ctive Investor (www.zdii.com), a free site offering investment news and data on tech companies. The ad-supported site will include reports from Ziff-Davis; The Red Herring, a tech business magazine partly owned by Ziff-Davis; investor site The Motley Fool; and Nordby International, which provides financial data.

Phys opens Fitness area

CondeNet's Phys (www.phys.com) launches a new area today called Fitness, adding to its existing Nutrition content. Fitness is the second in a planned series of "building block" content areas that will be rolled out in 1998. Still to come are mental health, sexual health, medicine and pregnancy. Initial advertisers are Hewlett-Packard Co. and community site goodcompany.com.

InfoBeat starts e-commerce

E-mail publisher InfoBeat (www.infobeat.com) expands into commerce with a deal announced today with retailer Cendant Corp. InfoBeat will receive a fee for each subscriber who signs up for a free trial membership on Cendant's site NetMarket (www.netmarket.com). InfoBeat subscribers, meanwhile, will receive incentives for participating.
