Atlanta's IXL buys

Boxtop Interactive

Interactive company IXL, Atlanta, with funds from New York financier Kelso, acquired Boxtop Interactive, Los Angeles, last week for an undisclosed sum. Boxtop is IXL's fifth interactive acquisition and positions IXL as a major Southern player with expected revenues of $25 million from its offices in Atlanta; Charlotte, N.C; and Memphis. IXL is also said to be eyeing London and New York acquisitions.

DoubleClick gets $40M

cash infusion

DoubleClick secured $40 million in funding from Greylock Management Investment; Bain Capital; ABC Capital; Canaan Partners; Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners; and Venrock Associates. The ad network also said it will start running larger ads and multimedia creative.

W3.Com adds targeting to AdOptimizer

W3.Com has added the ability to target advertisements based on user profile data in the new 3.0 release of its AdOptimizer. Until now, the product had focused on ad scheduling and inventory management.
