GM Canada offers reward for visits to the site

General Motors of Canada today unveils a Web site (http://www.gmcanada.com) that offers a frequent reward program dubbed "GM odometer kilometers." Once registered, the odometer, at the top of every page, keeps track of how much time is spent on the site and awards users "kilometers" as they travel through the site and click on logos and special areas or answer various questions. Visitors with the most kilometers logged by the end of February will win Chevrolet Corvette miniatures from the Franklin Mint. Ikonic Interactive, San Francisco, created the site.

Russo leaves Rodale for online startup

Susan Russo has resigned as general manager of Rodale Interactive, New York, to become a managing partner in an Internet startup company. Rodale hasn't yet named a successor. Ms. Russo joined Rodale in June to run its Health Online Services division and manage a content venture between Rodale and AT&T Corp.'s Personal Online Services division. That venture folded in less than four months. Before Rodale, Ms. Russo was VP-ad sales and strategy for Hearst New Media & Technology.

ZDNet to add 10 International editions

Ziff-Davis' ZDNet (http://www.zdnet.com) last week launched the first of 10 international editions, featuring lo cal translations of ZDNet news and buying information as well as access to the ZDNet software library. The first site, for China, was launched in conjunction with ChinaByte (http://www.china-byte.com), a Chinese-language service developed by Chinese newspaper People's Daily and News Corp. Sites for Australia, Hong Kong, Italy and other markets will launch later in the spring. All the sites will take advertising; ZDNet's rep firm, Softbank Interactive Marketing, will handle the new markets.
