Burnett buys tech shop TFA

Leo Burnett Co., Chicago, said it reached agreement to acquire privately held TFA Communications, Chicago, a business-to-business agency specializing in high-tech clients. TFA, which projects $88 million in capitalized billings this year, will be renamed TFA/Leo Burnett Technology and its Chicago office will relocate to Burnett's Chicago headquarters building, where it will occupy its own floor. TFA offices in Dallas and Boston will continue in operation and plans to open a San Francisco TFA office by yearend are going forward. TFA CEO Sean Bisceglia will continue in that role and become an exec VP of Leo Burnett USA. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. TFA and Burnett share clients Motorola Corp. and Chicago-based electric utility Unicom Energy Solutions Group.
