Burnett to handle Virgin utility

Published on .

Virgin Group, London, tapped Leo Burnett Co. to handle the estimated $16 million launch of its Virgin Energy online utility venture. The Web site (virgin.com/energy) is a joint venture between Virgin, with a 75% share, and London Electricity. It will provide gas and electricity to U.K. homes. Virgin Chairman Richard Branson explained: "For too long customers have been supplied energy by faceless institutions at inflated prices. We took a look at all the waste and bureaucracy in this industry, and knew we could provide a better service at a lower price."
