Burnett poised to get Art.com

Published on .

Art.com, Lake Forest, Ill., is expected to announce tomorrow that it has picked Leo Burnett USA, Chicago, to handle its $20 million account. Other finalists included Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG, New York; Mullen, Wenham, Mass.; and Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago. Laughlin Constable previously created advertising for Art.com on a project basis, but didn't participate in the review. The 2-year-old e-tailer bills itself as the Web's largest collection of framed and unframed art, with more than 100,000 images that have been discounted from 20% to 50%.
