Burnett wins Fila

Published on .

Fila USA, Sparks, Md., picked Leo Burnett USA, Chicago, to handle its estimated $15 million account, beating out finalist Cliff Freeman & Partners, New York. Arnell Brand Consulting Group, New York, was the incumbent. Leading Burnett's pitch was Joe McCarthy, former worldwide ad director at Nike. Other agencies contending were Fallon McElligott, New York; Toth Design & Advertising, Concord, Mass.; and W.B. Doner & Co., Southfield, Mich. All agencies were asked to present ideas for Fila's fall launch of the new basketball shoe endorsed by NBA superstar Grant Hill, with the understanding the winning agency would become the new agency of record.
