Bush set to name FCC, FTC heads

Published on .

President-elect George W. Bush is near announcing his choices to head the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Trade Commission, an aide said today. The aide said the appointments could come quickly, perhaps as soon as tomorrow. Mr. Bush is expected to name current FCC commissioner Michael J. Powell, the son of secretary-of-state designee Colin Powell, to head the FCC and most likely will name current FTC commissioner Orson Swindle as chairman of the FTC.
