Bush TV ad blitz precedes Republican convention

Published on .

George W. Bush, in what's likely his last pre-convention advertising, on July 20 breaks new spots in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington state. His campaign described the push as a "major buy''; the three ads, featuring messages of leadership, are from Gov. Bush's Maverick Media ad team, which includes Young & Rubicam executive Jim Ferguson. Under federal election laws, political campaigns must spend all the money raised for primaries on pre-nomination expenses, forcing the GOP presidential candidate to "spend down'' any leftover money before his nomination in Philadelphia the week of July 31.
