Busy day for Leagas Delaney: New $50 mil acc't, new parent

Published on .

Leagas Delaney has won a new $40 million to $50 million chunk of business even as the London-based independent inks a deal to be acquired. ReplayTV, Palo Alto, Calif., named Leagas' San Francisco office to handle its account. GMO/Hill, Holliday and J. Walter Thompson USA were the other finalists; incumbent Publicis & Hal Riney didn't pitch the account of the marketer of personal digital video recorders. The news quickly followed the announcement that Leagas would be acquired by Envoy Communications Group, Toronto. The $85.8 million purchase of Leagas, which also has offices in Hamburg, Paris and Rome, is part of Envoy's strategy to build "best of breed" companies in each of its core disciplines--marketing, design and technology. Leagas has more than $500 million in billings.
