Best Buy Co., Eden Prairie, Minn., the week of Sept. 11 kicks off a 10-week, $15 million multimedia campaign that backs the opening of 15 stores in the New York/New Jersey area. The push starts with a heavy run of TV advertising. The commercials, created in-house, feature the Best Buy Idea Box doing man-in-the-street interviews with New Yorkers. The humorous spots suggest the chain offers a fun, hassle-free shopping experience and low prices. The No. 1 consumer electronics retailer also is giving away 25,000 tickets to Sting's concert tomorrow in Central Park. Eleven of the 15 new stores are set to open Sept. 22.
