Buzz publisher gone

Published on .

Susan Gates, publisher of Buzz, was out suddenly at the Los Angeles-based city magazine. Allan Mayer, editor-in-chief, will assume the publisher's position as well. Associate Publisher Jocelyn McCormick becomes publishing director and Ad Director Mark Smelzer becomes associate publisher.

The six year old magazine was forced to suspend publication in 1992 but was saved when Thailand-based businessman Sondi Limthongkul materialized with an investment of $10 million. The magazine has been pushing for bi-coastal newsstands sales in recent months and for the second half of 1995 its total paid circulation was up 22.3% to 88,2777, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
