CAA's Meyer to MCA post

Published on .

Seagram Co. named Ron Meyer president-chief operating officer of its MCA subsidiary, from president of Creative Artists Agency. He will join MCA Aug. 1, succeeding Sid Sheinberg. MCA said Mr. Sheinberg's future plans will be announced Tuesday. Edgar Bronfman Jr., president-CEO of Seagram, which earlier this year bought 80% of MCA, had tried to get CAA Chairman Michael Ovitz to take the job, but talks broke down. No replacement has been named yet at CAA.
