Cable narrows gap

The broadcast and basic cable networks matched their historical seasonal patterns as they entered week five of the 1995-96 prime-time season, but with a smaller margin separating the two. Historically, broadcast gains and cable loses prime-time share as the new season progresses, but the Big 4 nets were still down 1.6 Nielsen rating points to a 42.3 gross rating for the week ending Oct. 22, while basic cable was up 2 rating points to a 16.2 rating.
