Cahners names exec VP

Cahners Publishing Co. went outside the publishing world to tap Mark S. Liebramn as exec VP of its 12-title entertainment, communications and media group. Mr. Lieberman, 37, will be based in New York where he will be responsible for publications including Variety, Broadcasting & Cable, Publishers Weekly, Tradeshow Week, as well as the company's communications and computer titles. The 37-year-old executive was most recently president and owner of Abel Technologies, a merchant bank that advised and funded several multi-media and infotainment companies. Prior to that he was in the associate deputy secretary in the U.S. Commerce Dept. He reports to Cahners President Bruce Barnett.
