California utility puts off ad campaign

Published on .

California electric utility Sempra Energy, San Diego, has delayed indefinitely what was to be a fall advertising campaign from Goldberg Moser O'Neill, San Francisco. A Sempra spokeswoman said the company is rethinking the timing and image of the campaign, which was to be launched next week, especially in light of a November ballot item in California called Proposition 9 that could hamper electricity deregulation. The spokeswoman said Sempra, the new name of the combined Enova Corp. and Pacific Energy companies, may launch a campaign next year.
