Canada online ads to double

Published on .

Internet ad revenue in Canada is expected to more than double this year to about $100 million, up from $45 million in 1999. The 1999 Internet Advertiser Study from the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada and Darestep, a Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Canada venture, surveyed the top ad spenders in Canada. The survey found less than 20% of Canada-based organizations' online budgets were being spent on U.S.-based Web sites, a figure that's declining in 2000. About half the companies surveyed are already using online advertising, and 64% say they will advertise online in the next 12 months.
