A Canadian tobacco marketer has begun approaching consultants in New York and on the West Coast about hiring an agency to help it test-market a new cigarette brand in the U.S., Advertising Age
has learned. While a consultant had not been hired at deadline, sources Executives familiar with the company's search said an account for the new brand would start at $6 million. and could climb to the tens of millions in the event of a national launch. could fall anywhere in the $6 to $100 million range.Both Imperial Tobacco and Rothmans International said they weren't planning to move a new product into the U.S.; RJR Macdonald couldn't be reached. for comment.
