Canadians buy Peruvian publishing house

LIMA -- Canada's largest printing house, Quebecor Printing Inc, continues its ex pansion in Latin America with the acqui sition of Peru's Stella Editorial.

Quebecor and its regional partner, Chile's Aguirre family, have taken control of Stella after more than a month of negotiations.

Stella Editorial is Peru's largest printing house, with 475 employees. The purchase price was not made public.

In addition to Peru, Quebecor has control over printing houses in Argentina, Chile and Mexico. Quebecor reported earnings of $3.5 billion in 1997. It employs 27,000 people in 115 printing houses in 10 countries.
