Canandaigua buys Simi Winery

Published on .

Canandaigua Brands, Fairport, N.Y., building its premium wine business, purchased the Simi Winery from luxury goods group LVHM. The Simi winery will be added to Canandaigua's Riverland Vineyards division, along with California wines Mystic Cliffs, Dunnewood and Via Firenze as well as Vina Santa Carolina from Chile. Simi has had minimal ad support, working with local California shops. Canandaigua last year indicated it intended to become a bigger player in the premium wine marketplace.
