Car buyers turn to Web

J.D. Power & Associates reported more than 20% of new vehicle buyers are turning to sources other than dealers for shopping assistance. Nearly 3 million new auto buyers will use a shopping service this year, about half via the Internet, Auto-By-Tel and carmakers' Web sites. The study revealed users of alternate shopping sources were disenchanted with past dealership purchase experiences.
